The lower part of St Ives town, built on the narrow ridge of land that separates the Island from the rest of the town is where you will find the Down-a-long.
This is a lovely part of town that is synonymous with many tourist’s view of Cornish life – narrow cobbled street lined with whitewashed fisherman cottages. You will find unique and evocative place names such as Salubrious Place, Teetotal Street and The Digey.
You won’t find many fishermen living in the Down-a-long anymore, but you will find lots of galleries, boutique shops and cafes to while away a couple of hours.
